Besides upgrading firmware over the air, you can do it using the Kies 3 software too. Here’s how:

1. Install and launch Samsung Kies 3 on your PC.
2. Connect your phone to the PC with the USB data cable.
3. If there’s new firmware, you will see a prompt to ask you if you want to upgrade.
4. Click Update.
   
5. Next, select I have read all of the above information, and then click Start upgrade.
   
6. When the upgrade is in progress, remember not to disconnect the data cable or press any buttons on the phone.
7. Once it’s completed, the phone will reboot itself. You can click OK to close the window
